Teaching Assistant in Autism Base
Position: Teaching Assistant (Autism Base).
Location: Vale of Glamorgan.
Hours: Full-time (term time only) - 08:15am-15:30pm.
Salary: £13 per hour +
Start Date: February 2025.

A lovely secondary school in the Vale of Glamorgan area are seeking a professional to joint their Autism Base where they provide a safe, nurturing environment where pupils with additional needs can thrive. The department focuses on fostering independence, building confidence, and ensuring every child has the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant in the Autism Base, you will:
- Support pupils with autism and additional needs, helping them to develop key life skills for independence.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons and activities to small groups, tailored to individual learning needs and abilities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment that supports emotional regulation and sensory needs.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to provide holistic support for each pupil.
- Provide one-to-one support where required, ensuring pupils feel safe, valued, and motivated.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with autism and/or additional needs.
- Be patient, compassionate, and adaptable, with excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver engaging activities for small groups.
- Be proactive, creative, and resilient when managing challenges in the classroom.
- Have knowledge of strategies to support sensory needs and emotional regulation (desirable but not essential).
