Job Title: Senior Project Planner
Location: Office closest to you - this can be but not limited to: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, or Warrington
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (1–2 days per week in office, rest remote)
Salary: £60,000–£75,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance required
I am recruiting on behalf of a global consultancy who is looking for an experienced Senior Project Planner to join their team. This role involves working on complex and sensitive projects within a secure environment, so it is crucial that you already hold valid SC Clearance. You will have the option to base yourself in any of the client’s major UK offices (including but not limited to London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, or Warrington), with a requirement to be on-site 1–2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling:
* Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules and resource allocations.
* Produce and manage master schedules, with visibility of key milestones and interdependencies.
* Proactively review project performance to ensure alignment with delivery targets and strategic goals.
Risk & Issue Management:
* Identify project risks and opportunities, proposing effective mitigations.
* Maintain risk logs and ensure all issues are escalated and addressed promptly.
* Carry out regular reviews with project teams to keep risk levels within acceptable limits.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
* Provide regular project status updates and in-depth reports to senior stakeholders.
* Facilitate planning sessions and workshops, communicating impacts of scope changes.
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure transparency and clarity in project deliverables.
Leadership & Collaboration:
* Mentor and guide junior planners, helping build project planning capabilities across the business.
* Collaborate closely with project management and technical teams to align schedules with project scope and objectives.
* Act as a subject matter expert, supporting the resolution of complex planning and scheduling issues.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Active SC Clearance (must be currently valid and in place).
* Demonstrable experience in planning large, complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
* Advanced proficiency in planning tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
