The Power Conversion Rotating Machines Rugby Engineering Team is responsible for the design and engineering of motors and generators to deliver optimized system solutions in line with the requirements of the wider GEPC business units such as Renewables, Industry, Marine, and Naval.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Engineering Quality Specialist is a pivotal role in the team responsible for driving significant improvement in operational processes and enhancing productivity and quality in all our deliverables.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Define, analyze, and drive the key performance metrics for the engineering organization to achieve continuous improvements in their deliverables.
2. Drive engagement with cross-functional teams to develop processes, procedures, and initiatives that allow seamless handoffs from engineering.
3. Lead root cause analysis using best-in-class quality tools to address engineering issues, ensuring preventive actions are formally implemented and measured by zero recurrence.
4. Define and lead Kaizen activities for process improvements.
5. Able to lead teams in analyzing data and act as a change agent for new initiative implementation.
6. Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
This is not an extensive list. The role will evolve to incorporate other tasks according to business requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
1. Degree qualified in engineering or quality.
2. Significant experience in a quality engineering role.
3. Significant experience in 8D, 5Ys, etc. tools.
4. Knowledge of rotating machinery would be beneficial but not essential.
5. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage but not essential.
6. Knowledge of Teamcenter PLM system is an advantage.
