The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for facilitating accessibility and inclusion in all organizational programming. The Manager will be responsible for the co-development, implementation, assessment, and continual refinement of programs specifically targeted at underserved and diverse communities, and will be an internal advisor, coach, and collaborator in ensuring that all programming supports the organization’s drive towards inclusivity. Serving as a liaison between Glen Foerd program staff and underrepresented communities of Philadelphia, the Manager will also work to strengthen programming with volunteers and maintain and enhance collaborative partnership relations.
Education/Training/Experience:
* Associate’s Degree/Two years of college + Two (2) years of related work experience OR four (4) years of related work experience;
* Project management skills and experience managing multiple concurrent programs particularly with/for BIPOC audiences;
* Experience in identifying community partners with a particular emphasis on Philadelphia regional and underrepresented communities;
* Experience supporting organizations in authentically reaching out to & engaging BIPOC/queer/differently-abled audiences;
* Demonstrated competency and success in building trusting and effective long-term collaborative relationships with partner organizations;
* Experience with volunteer management;
* Experience with the creation and management of contracts and budgets;
* Commitment to organizational teamwork and collegiality;
* Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills;
Specific Responsibilities:
* In conjunction with staff and external community partners, including schools, artists and community organizations, oversee the development and implementation of welcoming and inclusive opportunities onsite and offsite for underserved audiences, including BIPOC, queer, and disabled vendors, performers/musicians, etc.;
* In collaboration with program area managers [Environmental Programs Manager and Arts and Culture Program Manager], develop community-based programs and assess outcomes using evaluation tools to determine success and areas of improvement;
* Co-create with community partners, programs designed in collaboration with staff, meeting community needs and aspirations;
* Create and manage systems, such as community engagement advisory committees, to build Glen Foerd’s relationships with underrepresented communities and meaningfully engage them in program development;
* Create and monitor annual budget, program plan and evaluation in collaboration with ED and program managers;
* Serve as consultant for program managers and other staff in considering barriers to inclusion and how to address them in planning programs;
* In collaboration with community partners and Glen Foerd development staff, identify opportunities to obtain funding;
* Through active cultivation of relationships strive to understand the landscape of community-based arts, environmental, and cultural programming in Philadelphia;
* Work closely with marketing and communication staff to develop procedures for promoting community programs to ensure maximum attendance and participation from underserved and new audiences;
* Serve as a liaison/contact for community-based organizations and other collaborators;
* Develop and maintain collegial relationships with peers in the field and with area volunteer organizations to ensure best practices for our volunteer and collaborative programs. Provide primary leadership at fairs, festivals, schools, corporations, etc. in promoting Glen Foerd;
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Reports To: Executive Director
Compensation Range: $47,000 – $49,000 annually
