Glasgow will host the 23rd edition of Commonwealth Games between 23 July and 2 August 2026. Approximately 3,000 athletes and team officials from up to 74 nations and territories across the Commonwealth will come together in a 10-day celebration of sport and culture. Events will take place across Glasgow, entertaining around 500,000 ticketed spectators and reaching a global broadcast audience of more than one billion.
Glasgow 2026 Limited, the Organising Company (the OC), is organising the Games along with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS). Each has key parts to play in the planning and delivery of the Commonwealth Games - individually and collectively - to ensure that Glasgow 2026 is a huge success.

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for all day-to-day transaction processing, payroll input data, whilst also supporting the wider team with reporting and reconciliations.
This is a key role which will support the ongoing financial management of all aspects of the Games. This role is critical for us to ensure that we meet our internal and external reporting requirements.

Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for:
* The day-to-day processing of financial transactions (e.g. invoices, expenses, and payroll) onto Xero, and elsewhere as necessary.
* Issuing purchase orders (where required to support procurement) and maintaining purchase order log.
* Raising sales invoices where required and maintaining the sales ledger.
* Preparing weekly BACS payment runs and making ad hoc payments as required (CHAPS, international & cheques).
* Performing bookkeeping duties and preparing financial accounting journals, ensuring that the financial management system is regularly maintained and accurately reflects the financial position of the OC.
* Liaising with internal and external auditors as required.
* Assisting in ensuring that the OC’s system of financial controls is operating effectively.
* Assisting the wider Finance Team in the preparation of monthly financial reports, reconciliations, and analysis.
* Assisting on internal and external financial reporting, including but not limited to preparation of Statutory Accounts and Consolidated Statutory Accounts, Taxation returns (HMRC requirements), requirements of Games Funding Partners (e.g. Commonwealth Games Federation).
Education:
You should have an AAT/equivalent qualification commenced or part-qualified, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in management or financial accounting.
Key Skills and Experience:
We are looking for an Accountant who is has excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and thrives working in a fast-paced environment. In addition, the successful candidate should also display an elevated level of organisational skills an have a strong attention to detail. Relationship building is key for this role and experience supporting senior internal and external stakeholders essential.
