Depot Manager- Environmental Services Rainham Permanent, full-time Competitive salary - Car Allowance/Company Car Bonus The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and run the depot and promote the commercial success of the Rainham depot and wider group. This is a senior position and is expected to demonstrate and continuously achieve high levels of commercial performance and service delivery to all customers. You will also be expected to support all A&A group operations & projects as required, working in conjunction with A&A Management, both the National Enquiries / Contracts & Group Operations departments and other Depots to ensure smooth delivery of both reactive and planned services to existing & new clients. More about the role: Manage and develop excellent internal and external colleague & customer relations throughout the region, develop new business and maximise all opportunities, expand customer base, maintain regular contact with existing clients in conjunction with the Sales, Commercial & Marketing teams to ensure maximum repeat business and further service provision. Follow up & progress all allocated enquiries & leads in a timely manner. Ensure the A&A CRM is adequately populated and that new opportunities are communicated with other sales & operational staff as appropriate to best achieve business objectives. Proactively promote all other Group Services across all sectors wherever possible Manage all financial matters of the depot and control and monitor all expenditure. The postholder must be capable of providing management with a comprehensive profit and cost overview at all times. Effectively and efficiently manage the P&L and administrative function of the depot to ensure accurate & timely invoicing, reduction and maintenance of un-invoiced sales & work in progress figures and management of depot debt. Ensure all works programmes are logistically planned, managed and executed to promote maximum efficiency with often short or no notice, whilst delivering excellent service to the Company's customers. Ensure that the depot KPI's are met, to include depot, staff, SHEQ compliance. The postholder will be expected to monitor and identify training requirements and plan / implement training efficiently to reduce any disruption to operations and service delivery. To ensure that vehicles and equipment are kept in full & compliant working order, that waste transport / storage permits are adhered to and that non-conformance & health and safety reporting is timely and accurate. Be fully briefed, monitor and investigate all incidents occurring whilst assets are deployed and report appropriately. It is the postholders responsibility to ensure incidents are addressed, resolution identified and deployed and customer demand is satisfied in conjunction with the relevant internal functions such as Compliance & HR. Investigate and resolve client concerns and grievances & suggest / implement strategy to avoid reoccurrence of such issues. Continually review operational practices and planning. The postholder is expected to highlight, discuss, present and upon authorisation implement changes as required to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations to contribute to the Company's objectives and goals. This includes appropriate selection & use of subcontractors & outsourced materials suppliers if and as required, making use of approved suppliers wherever possible. Encourage positive staff morale, operating with 'hands on' support for all colleagues in the Group. Involvement in recruitment of depot staff. Ensure that group HR policies are communicated effectively to and adhered to by the workforce. Any other task for which the postholder is capable of undertaking and requested by line or senior management. Successfully manage the pipeline and forecasting which will include the analysis and careful planning of structure of staff to promote efficiencies with regards payroll expenditure. About you: Previous knowledge & experience in the waste industry or industrial services is essential. Significant finance, sales & operations management experience with sales strategy implementation experience. Fully computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook; must be able to prepare and present Board level reports using such applications. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, workforce and clients at all levels Understanding and knowledge of health and safety at work; promote compliant and best practice in line with relative legislation. Possessing IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications would be advantageous. Experience and knowledge of operating within ISO 9001:14001 Management Systems would be advantageous. Capable of adhering to any deadline; this includes an immediate response at any time. Right to work in the UK. Full UK driving licence.
