Are you looking for an exciting challenge that is hugely rewarding?
Do you want to help shape the future of the Sussex Eating Disorder Service (SEDS)?
We're looking for like-minded people to join us and help provide top quality care to those who need it.
SEDS is developing a new pathway to support patients with severe eating disorders. The Inpatient Transition Pathway (ITP) aims to transform patient experience by minimising episodes of inpatient care and facilitate moves between community and inpatient services.
The Band 6 dietitian role will be a key role in the ITP, providing key nutritional support and guidance to clients and colleagues. You will be involved in preparation for admission, in-reach to inpatient units through visits, attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings and Care plan approach meetings (CPA). Preparation for discharge will start before admission with timely assessment of health, psychological and social needs.
Covering the whole of Sussex, SEDS staff work face to face (in clinic and home visit) and virtually to provide specialist eating disorder services across a large geographical area, including Coastal West Sussex, North West Sussex, Brighton and East Sussex.
This post will be supervised by a specialist Band 7 dietitian within SEDS. We are a nurturing team that prioritises supervision, career development and training.
Main duties of the job
Main responsibilities of the role:
1. To work with SEDS ITP colleagues with the aim of preventing admission to hospital and/or facilitate timely discharge home.
2. Manage a clinical caseload providing comprehensive and effective dietetic management of clients with eating disorders.
3. Provide nutritional risk assessment and treatment plans in a clear and straightforward manner including during the process of refeeding and management of refeeding syndrome and implementation of change to nutritional support regimes.
4. To actively contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders (MEED) meetings and Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews to provide specialist clinical advice and contribute to the shared formulation and ongoing assessment of clients.
5. Work alongside and communicate effectively with other members of the MDT and wider services.
6. To work autonomously with the support of your professional lead whilst being aware of own limitations.
7. To play an active role in supporting dietetic students on placement with the service.
