Thorpe CofE Primary school is seeking a hardworking, friendly school secretary to join our team. You will work two days each week (Tuesday and Wednesday) commencing at 08.30 and finishing at 15.30 with a 30 minutes unpaid lunch break. This is a term time only contract including INSET days plus one week during the summer break to prepare for the following academic year. Pay: PS 3 £23,576 (£7,249 pro rata 13 hours per week) Responsibilities include: • Provide a professional “front of house” service to all pupils, parents, visitors and staff • Ensure that all visitors are signed in and out of the building • General office duties including copy typing and word processing • General office administrative support including opening mail/emails, answering phones, corresponding, photocopying, filing and shredding • Working with the office team to respond to all enquiries from visitors, parents and ensure all matters are dealt with promptly and appropriately • Assisting with regular maintenance of office filing systems and records • Operation and maintenance of reprographic equipment • Administer first aid as required and report in line with school policy • Accept, check and distribute school deliveries • Under direction, make standard and straightforward amendments to the SIMS database • Under direction, assist with preparation of open days, parents’ evening and school trips • Under direction, assist with any duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the school office Skills required: • Reliable and hardworking • Experience of administration tasks • IT literate with ability to use a range of software • Knowledge of safeguarding • Excellent communication skills with good understanding and use of English Desirable qualities: • Previous experience working in a school office • Approachable and supportive • Team player • Fun loving with a good sense of humour • Child protection training • First Aid Certificate • Prevent Training certificate Successful applicants must be able to support the distinctive Christian ethos of our school but do not have to be a practising Christian.
