How You'll Make a Difference The Children and Young People’s Commissioning team have specific responsibility for the procurement and commissioning of a range of services for children and young people including those corporately parented by South Gloucestershire council. As an Assistant Commissioning Officer, you will make a difference by brokering placements and packages of care. Working closely with social care colleagues and providers, maintaining records while improving the provision of those services commissioned by the Council for children and young people living in South Gloucestershire. What will you be doing? Working within the children's placement team, you will co-ordinate and administer the start of the service by liaising with care providers and securing the most appropriate placements for Children and Young People which are a best and most cost-effective match. When required, you will implement contracts, processing of invoices and contribute to project planning, partnership working and the development of commissioning plans. Importantly, you will work in co-production with colleagues, partners, people who use services and carers to ensure the services we commission meet outcomes When the service requires, you will support commissioning officers and manager with the wider partnership, working to support children and young people and their families. What We Need From You You will have relevant knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that commissions and contracts in social care or similar services and able to demonstrate a flexible approach to working across different areas. You will need excellent interpersonal skills to establish a positive relationship with a wide variety of stakeholders’ contacts and customers. You will be well organised with excellent time management skills and able to manage competing demands. Desirably, you’ll have a level 3 qualification ideally in social care, health care or business studies. Please note; although the role is contracted as office based - the placements team work predominantly from home, with occasional work in the office.
