Job Title: Head of Governance and Business Readiness
Department: Life – Risk, Assurance & Remediation
Job Overview:
The Head of Governance and Business Readiness will report into the Director of Risk, Assurance and Remediation and will operate within the Life Business of M&G. This role will serve the duties of Third Party Management Officer (TPMO) as specified in the TPRM policy on behalf of the Life COO. As TPMO, the role holder will act as the principal coordinator and senior point of escalation for all Third Party and Outsourcing management matters in Life and will utilise expertise to resolve or escalate issues as required.
The role holder ensures that Third Party Management processes and other governance roles are performing effectively across the Life business. The Head of Governance and Business Readiness will engage and collaborate with senior stakeholders, central functions and TPMOs across M&G, representing the Life business area in Third Party Governance and Business Readiness activity. Ultimately responsible for overseeing the delivery of all services and oversight obligations for material and non-material suppliers.
The Head of Governance and Business Readiness will also be responsible for leading a business readiness area. Performing assurance activity on business-led change to ensure that the changes being delivered by the business or suppliers are effective and comply with change framework requirements to protect our customers and business.
The role holder will have strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills, strong people management ability, strong analytical skills, great verbal & written communication skills and self-confidence and the ability to deliver presentations at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance and Oversight of Third-Party Arrangements:
1. Chair and provide leadership to governance forums overseeing third-party relationships, ensuring effective facilitation, rigorous challenge, and guidance to senior stakeholders across M&G Life.
2. Lead the monitoring and oversight of third-party arrangements to proactively identify and manage risks, ensuring full compliance with the organization’s TPRMO Policy and other internal standards across M&G Life.
3. Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of controls relating to third-party policy standards ensuring all governance frameworks meet internal and regulatory standards.
4. Act as the senior point of escalation for business areas in relation to M&G Life suppliers and operational readiness.
5. Provide an account-wide view of third-party performance and ensure emerging trends are identified and addressed appropriately. Monitoring service delivery and change oversight activity to prevent escalations by working closely with business areas and suppliers to resolve challenges.
6. Escalate through the appropriate governance channels where resolution can't be achieved.
7. Ensure the production of governance documentation meets the required standards, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to address any gaps and ensure full alignment with organizational objectives.
8. Ensure that M&G’s third-party suppliers are aligned with the organization's goals and standards, managing key supplier relationships to optimize performance and mitigate risk.
9. Serve as the primary leader and trusted expert in M&G Life for third-party risk management and governance, offering strategic oversight and direction on all TPRMO-related matters.
10. Lead the implementation of the TPRMO policy across the Life Business, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements, on behalf of the TPAO.
11. Mentor and guide Third-Party Arrangement Managers, providing leadership support to ensure they have the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively execute the TPRMO strategy and lead their teams to success.
Business Readiness:
1. Provide leadership and direction to the team overseeing the business readiness process, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative business readiness frameworks and processes.
2. Collaborate closely with senior executives and key business areas to validate readiness for change initiatives through comprehensive evaluation of evidence artifacts and risk assessments.
3. Ensure the maintenance of an artifact repository and executive-level stakeholder reporting.
4. Represent the operational business within the M&G Change Governance structure, ensuring strategic alignment and compliance with governance standards and practices.
5. Work collaboratively with risk functions to identify, assess, and mitigate strategic risks associated with business changes, ensuring minimal disruption and effective implementation at an M&G Life level.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Essential - An experienced financial services professional with a strong knowledge of the PAC business (including key suppliers).
2. Essential – Significant experience of managing third-party suppliers.
3. Essential - Strong understanding of the financial services regulatory requirements for third-party oversight.
4. Essential - Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
5. Essential - Proven track record leading and developing a team.
6. Essential - Strong analytical skills.
7. Essential – Proven ability to influence stakeholders and business areas to reach required outcomes.
8. Essential - Strong presentation skills to senior level boards and committees with the ability to explain and articulate key messages at the right level.
9. Essential - Experience working with Executive Level stakeholders and presenting to board level committees.
