Job Description
We are currently seeking a Traffic Operator to join our Transport team at our Widnes site.
As Traffic Operator you will oversee, manage and monitor the daily activities for their drivers, to hit set targets and ensuring your area/sheet runs smoothly and efficiently.
Working hours are – 4 on 4 off Day shift, 6am to 6pm
Salary on offer – Up to £31k
Location – Widnes
Job responsibilities of Traffic Operator include:
1. Control costs by managing nights out and monitor parking locations.
2. Revenue and cost targets are achieved, and truck earnings investigated.
3. Daily hours checks and timesheet approval.
4. Making sure the costs are correct on the running sheets and anything out of the ordinary is investigated.
5. Ensure override dates are correct and revenue is allocated correctly.
6. Take responsibility for containers left on wheels in yards, to ensure exports make the intended vessels and empties are returned in time to avoid detention fees.
7. Ensure a pickup leg is put in for anything lifted off and its moved into the relevant planning screen.
8. Ensure containers are returned to quay / depot before detention is incurred and prior to vessel cut offs, escalate to the Planner if there are any issues.
9. Ensure vehicles and relevant information are put on the backload the day before the job.
10. Find ways to make the job more profitable by utilising one way, tip and reload.
11. All drivers to be spoken to and a list of weekend overtime shifts to be given to the Planner by the end of play every Wednesday. Drivers to be given their next day details by 1700 hrs each day where possible.
12. Driver cover sheets to be monitored each day for the next in case of changes.
13. Ensure drivers are trained to use specialised equipment.
14. Make sure any jobs in your screen do not exceed legal weight requirements.
15. Ensure all ATA / ATD's / ETA's and trailer numbers are in Truckcom.
16. Ensure all override dates are set correctly to ensure the sub-contractor trailer report is correct.
17. ETA's are monitored and late advices are entered at least 30 minutes before the booking time.
18. Demurrage warnings are sent once the driver has been on site for 2 hours.
19. Ensure all vehicles are routed and every driver is aware of his job and start time.
20. Ensure all OV's and sub-contractors are logged on and using the Truckcom app.
21. Service and MOT schedules to be followed.
22. Research and understand drivers legal working hours and update knowledge with internal training if required.
23. Build positive and effective relationships with drivers on your traffic sheet(s) to ensure we have a content workforce
Qualifications
As Traffic Operator you will possess the following skill, experiences and qualifications:
24. Oversee, manage and monitor the daily activities of your allocated drivers.
25. Keep up to date with all relevant legislation and ensure that regulations, policies and procedures are followed.
26. Make decisions in the best interests of the Company and for clients and where these decisions cannot be made, elevate the issue to your line manager.
27. Promoting a company culture that encourages high morale and top performance.
28. Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
29. Minimising operation expenditure within the business wherever possible
30. Understanding and complying with the Health, Safety and Environment Policy and carry out work in accordance with its requirements.

33. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and all other in-house systems.
