On the back of sustained business growth, this Norfolk-based business is looking for a Horticultural Buyer to join their established team. This role offers a high degree of autonomy with scope to develop and embed the plant category offering from inception and strategic planning to selection, ensuring a competitive advantage in the market. This role will work closely with suppliers in negotiating margins and terms, retail teams and internal colleagues and will oversee all aspects of the plant category.
Key areas of focus include: developing and embedding category strategies; being accountable for margins, sales and profitability across the plant category; build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships; drive market research to identify and embed trends; utilise data insights to inform product selection and pricing; and lead on embedding the product strategy ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer requirements.
To succeed in this role, a demonstrable track-record working as a Plant Buyer or a merchandiser is essential, with Plant category experience absolutely critical to success in this role. With a strong background in general horticulture, you will have knowledge of plant import legislation and regulations. You will have a strong commercial focus and exceptional data analysis and decision-making abilities. Highly organised, you will have strong contract management and supplier negotiation skills and be adept at influencing and relationship-building. This role does require an office presence Monday to Friday and with excellent opportunities for career development, there is relocation support available for the right candidate.
