The Opportunity
The role primarily supports the Group Tax function with the management of Group tax compliance, year-end tax reporting, tax risk management and transfer pricing compliance. Additionally, you will support various Group Tax activities such as structuring and M&A activities, ad-hoc projects (such as preparing for the introduction of the new global minimum tax) and advice to the business.
Role Responsibility
This is a varied role with mixed responsibilities including corporate tax compliance, tax reporting, transfer pricing, tax risk management and support with other taxes. In particular:
Tax compliance
* Working with our external tax adviser on the preparation and submission of UK tax returns, including co-ordination of work to support the R&D claim, corporate interest restriction calculations and group relief.
* Managing routine HMRC correspondence and monitoring tax payments and refunds.
* Reviewing overseas corporate tax returns (this doesn’t require prior knowledge of overseas tax regimes, just the ability to challenge appropriately, ask sensible questions and summarise for the wider Group Tax team).
* Management of withholding taxes, particularly in relation to external loan facilities, including the preparation and submission of the UK CT61 withholding tax return.
* Preparing annual transfer pricing local files and providing ad-hoc assistance to the Group Tax Manager responsible for global transfer pricing compliance.
* Preparing and submitting PAYE Settlement Agreement calculations.
* Preparing and submitting short term business visitor (“STBV”) returns.
* Assisting with tax authority enquiries/audits.
* If required, supporting other workstreams such as country-by-country reporting, Pillar 2 notifications and returns.
Tax reporting
* Supporting the calculation of the year-end tax provision for the group accounts, including current tax and deferred tax calculations and reconciliations, accounts disclosures and responding to audit requests.
* Supporting the preparation of tax disclosures for local statutory accounts in the UK and some other countries.
* Supporting local finance teams with day-to-day tax accounting but particularly following submissions of tax returns.
* Performing regular tax controls test, reporting findings to the Senior Accounting Officer (“SAO”) and implementing improvements.
* Preparing and submitting SAO notifications and certificates and supporting documentation.
Support with other taxes
* Supporting preparation for BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2 compliance (global minimum tax).
* Assisting with ad-hoc projects such as group structuring, M&A, financing flows, repatriation and supply chain flows.
* Ongoing day-to-day support (and responding to the wider business) in respect of general tax including VAT and employment taxes as needed.
* Remaining up to date with the evolving tax landscape, for instance in relation to environmental taxes, and updating the wider business where necessary.

* UK corporate tax experience, ideally gained from working at a large accountancy firm or in an in-house corporate tax role.
* Up to date knowledge of relevant tax legislation.
* Advanced Excel skills an advantage.
* An awareness/experience of other taxes (besides corporate tax) would be an advantage.
* Previous experience in tax accounting and of transfer pricing is desirable but not essential.
