The IT Tools Engineer at indie will oversee and administer our global toolset for Business/Engineering systems, including ALM/RM (e.g., Jama), PLM (TBD), Enterprise Architect, Ansys Medini, and ReqIF data exchange. This role is critical in implementing, developing, and supporting these key systems while providing global support for issue resolution, user training, and tool administration. This role, reporting to the Global Director of IT located in Michigan, U.S., provides the flexibility to be based in one of our office locations, including Austin, TX, Aliso Viejo, CA, Toronto, Canada, or Edinburgh, UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and maintain Jama Connect
* Develop, improve, and maintain customizations for tools
* Manage accounts, user access, groups, projects, permissions, and templates
* Administer Medini license manager and configure Structure Manager (e.g., creating Revision and Variant Rules)
* Work with ReqIF requirements interchange
* Support the implementation of a future PLM system and its integration with hardware engineering tools
* Translate business requirements into PLM/ALM solutions and serve as an architect for these systems
* Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for tool updates and IT rollouts
* Lead and support change management initiatives
* Provide global user training on standardized tools
* Act as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and issue resolution
* Support user installation and setup, ensuring seamless operation
* Manage licensing, tracking, and administration
* Contribute to annual budget planning for tool investments and growth
* Investigate and troubleshoot data issues to enhance application performance
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to support team members
Qualifications
* Diploma/certificate in Information Technology or a related field and 10+ years of professional experience
* 5+ years of experience administering and supporting IT applications, particularly Engineering Applications (e.g., RM, ALM, and/or PLM)
* Experience with middleware platforms (e.g., OpsHub) and Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) is a plus
* Familiarity with application development, ITIL frameworks, and automotive standards (e.g., ASPICE, ISO 26262) is advantageous
* Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
* Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to business users and build relationships across organizational levels
* A passion for customer service and technology, with a drive to succeed
