Delegated Authority Oversight Specialist (Part-Time, Job-Share, Full-Time)
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: We’re flexible! You’ll need to travel to Croydon or other Zurich offices when necessary.
Closing date for applications: 20th November 2024
The opportunity:
A fantastic opportunity to join the Delegated Authority Oversight Team (DAOT) managing the ongoing activities of Delegated Underwriting Authority Arrangements (DAs) across the UK.
Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.
What is DA Oversight?
DA’s are where a broker/MGA carries out underwriting activities on behalf of Zurich. DA’s continue to play a significant part of Zurich’s portfolio, and they contribute to about a quarter of all the UK's income; therefore, oversight is essential to check that all appropriate procedures and controls are in place.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll be key in supporting our Delegated Authority oversight processes throughout the lifecycle of DAs that can vary from standard rules-based DAs to high-profile MGA’s worth millions. Your role is to ensure all correct procedures are followed and appropriate controls are in place. This includes making sure effective risk and due diligence assessments are completed, flagging potential issues/opportunities, and seeing them through to completion.
To achieve this, you will be collaborating with a wide range of internal stakeholders such as our DA Owners, Relationship Managers, Underwriting Leads, and Technical Pricing teams. You'll help strengthen our partnership with brokers/MGA by ensuring they meet all regulatory requirements and deliver for our customers.
Your key responsibilities include:
* Using your technical knowledge to drive and support improvements to the oversight of DAs.
* Monitoring the timely submission of Risk Assessment Questionnaires from our DA Owners and Due Diligence Questionnaires from our Brokers/MGAs via SYNERGi.
* Ensuring that all appropriate regulatory and operational controls are in place to manage a DA and if not, raise any remediations as required and track through to completion.
* Identifying any potential detriment to our customers and exploring potential solutions through activities such as Conduct MI.
* Ensuring timely and accurate recording of information.
* Working closely with other departments such as Legal, Marketing, Compliance, Distribution, Underwriting, etc., to determine that all appropriate controls are in place throughout the lifecycle of the DA.
* Working closely with subject matter experts such as Supplier Governance, Legal, Compliance, Distribution, etc., to determine that all broker/MGA’s display appropriate behaviours to manage a DA.
* Leading Delegated Programme Reviews (Spot Checks) as required.
What are we looking for?
* An Understanding of Delegated Authorities would be beneficial but not essential.
* A knowledge of Underwriting or Compliance would be beneficial but not essential.
* An interest in Governance and doing the right thing.
* Strong Communication skills - This role involves a high level of engagement with a wide variety of internal stakeholders across all MFU’s.
* Ability to produce accurate and timely reports for the underwriting assurance reviews.
* Confidence to question and challenge existing ways of working.
* Proactive and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workloads.
* Ability to adapt to changes and embrace new challenges.
Do you have a background or understanding of Governance? Don’t worry if you don’t have underwriting experience; if you have strong communication skills and attention to detail, we would love to hear from you! Full training and support will be provided.
