As a Tissue Culture Expert, you will play a pivotal role within the Waltham laboratory, performing advanced experiments and generating high-quality data that fuels our research projects. Reporting to the Laboratory QSHE Line Manager, you will apply your technical skills in tissue culture and collaborate on cross-functional projects to improve laboratory efficiency, health and safety standards, and sustainability practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute a wide range of advanced tissue culture techniques to produce data for research projects.
2. Provide scientific insights during project discussions and support the development and troubleshooting of new methodologies.
3. Ensure optimal operation of laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance.
4. Train and mentor fellow scientists on standard laboratory methodologies and protocols.
5. Document research findings in electronic laboratory notebooks, adhering to lab guidelines.
6. Communicate research progress to internal teams and stakeholders through reports and presentations.
7. Collaborate on projects to improve laboratory processes and sustainability initiatives.
Key Outputs:
8. Generate high-quality, reliable data aligned with research objectives.
9. Support the validation and refinement of new laboratory methodologies.
10. Ensure accurate and timely communication of research outcomes.
11. Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Qualifications and Experience:
12. Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Tissue Culture, or a related scientific discipline.
13. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with tissue culture techniques, including:Cell culturing (adhesion & suspension)Working with primary culture cells and specific cell linesFluorescent/luminescent assays, including TEER and scratch wound assaysSubculturing (passaging), trypsinization, and splitting ratiosCryopreservation, cell counting, and viability assaysCell differentiation
14. Previous laboratory experience is essential; recent graduates will not be considered.
15. Experience in a research environment is highly desirable.
16. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey scientific data clearly and accurately.
