RCN Officer
Location: Southeast - Croydon Office
Permanent (35 hours per week)
Salary: £47,745 per annum + outer London weighting of £2,547 per annum
Imagine being faced with a world of exciting possibilities that could ultimately enable you to support our members and help shape the health policies of the future. As the UK’s largest trade union and professional body for nursing, we support over half a million members with unwavering loyalty and total commitment. We represent and develop them, support their practice and lobby on their behalf to make a positive difference to their working lives.
We're accredited with Investors in People Silver Standard. Our people are our greatest asset, and we want people who can contribute to our purpose in line with our values.
As an RCN Officer you’ll use your positive attitude and your knowledge of employment and health and care issues to deliver advice and representation to our members facing employment and professional issues. You’ll also work to influence and negotiate on behalf of our members. You’ll manage your case load supervised and supported by an RCN Senior Officer, working across a patch area within the Southeast Region.
Every day will be filled with possibilities as you find new ways to manage and support the development of our accredited representatives and RCN members. You’ll also manage your own portfolio of casework which will include assisting and representing members with disciplinary and grievance procedures.
Taking care of our existing members will be your primary role, but you’ll also see the possibilities that new members can bring. A key part of what you do will be to suggest innovative approaches to grow our membership.
To join us you’ll need an in-depth knowledge of health and social care issues, equality and diversity, and employment relations. You will need to have good communication skills, be able to challenge and negotiate skilfully and be able to work with a range of stakeholders across a variety of health and care settings.
You will need to be able to travel within the geographical area of the Southeast Region to enable us to support and advocate for our members when required.
Whatever your background, you'll be efficient, accurate and show a real customer focus in all you do.
To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better, and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything’s possible.
