About the Role
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience across various accounting disciplines within a growing practice. Working closely with the management team, you'll provide essential support across client portfolios while developing your technical and client-facing skills.
Based at their modern Taunton offices, you'll enjoy a varied role that combines technical accounting work with client relationship management. The position reports directly to the Managing Director, providing valuable exposure to senior leadership.
Accounts Assistant Responsibilities
* Assist with client payroll processing and ensure accurate, timely reporting to HMRC
* Support clients with bookkeeping requirements using cloud accounting software
* Help prepare and submit VAT returns within statutory deadlines
* Process client invoices and complete bank reconciliations using digital platforms
* Contribute to accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
* Assist with self-assessment tax returns during peak periods
* Maintain efficient filing systems and database management
* Identify opportunities for client service expansion and cross-referrals
* Build productive relationships with clients and colleagues across the wider group
Accounts Assistant Requirements
* AAT Level 2 or 3 qualification (desirable)
* Minimum 1 year's experience in an accountancy practice
* Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
* Good understanding of accounting standards and financial reporting
* Excellent attention to detail with high standards of accuracy
* Strong communication skills for client interaction
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Professional, presentable and punctual approach
