We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join the team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet.
This is a full time vacancy, working 37.5 hours a week over 5 days. This will be on a shift pattern between Monday and Sunday.
What you'll be doing
You will be an integral part of a passionate team helping to provide meals for our patients and to ensure they feel that they are receiving a high quality experience.
Providing an efficient, high quality dedicated food and beverage service. The post holder must operate in line with clearly defined standards and in compliance with policies and procedures.
You will be involved in all aspects of food and beverage service to patients at all times whilst on duty.
You will serve meals to inpatients and audit the completion of a nutritional intake sheet for each and every meal provided.
You will need to inform staff of any patient who has refused or not eaten much of their meal for onward management.
You will act on any patient dietary requests for additional/alternative food or beverages requirements reporting any difficulty to the Head or second Chef for onward management and also report any patient dissatisfaction regarding catering service to the Head or Second Chef for onward management.
Regeneration of chilled/frozen food and preparation of sauces.
Plating and service of cold and hot food items with meal delivery to patients, including service of condiments.
Probing and recording food temperatures. Recording of equipment temperatures.
Beverage service to patients, washing and refilling of patient's water jugs and beakers, taking the patient orders and communicating the requirements to the catering department.
What we’ll look for in you
As a member of the catering team, you will be responsible for providing an efficient, high quality dedicated food and beverage service, operating in compliance with corporate and local policies and procedures.
* Must be familiar with health code standards for food preparation and presentation.
* Must have exceptional interpersonal skills for working with the general public.
* Must be a team player and willing to take on additional tasks to get the job done.
* Be familiar with a variety of food types, menus, recipes, and food presentation.
* Excellent time management skills and ability to work in high pressure situations.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Enjoy working at a fast pace and within a team environment.
* A Basic Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to work towards.
* Have experience working within a similar role.
