The Project
As a highly experienced Design Manager, you will initially be based on a £250m new build residential and commercial mixed-use development in Leeds. You will play a key role in coordinating and managing the design process, leading a multidisciplinary team to ensure the project meets client briefs and complies with regulatory standards. Your role will ensure that all design elements are delivered to the client's specification and a high standard.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you hold the experience below:
1. Proven history of working on new build/refurbishment projects with build values in excess of £50m
2. Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working for a market leading construction contractor or subcontractor
3. Experience working on projects within residential/commercial sectors is advantageous; however, all candidates with a portfolio of working on medium-large scale projects are of interest

Reporting to: Project Director
Duties:
1. Cost control
2. Liaise with stakeholders
3. Progress reporting/monitoring
4. Regular use of Microsoft software
5. Chair regular design team meetings
6. Create and sustain the projects design management plan
7. Control costs ensuring they remain within budgetary limits
8. Initiate a good working communication platform between team
9. Establish and maintain relationships with design consultants
10. Carry out initial review of design information prior to issuing to client
11. Providing support and technical advice to the client and other stakeholders
12. Overseeing the preparation and management of technical drawings and plans
13. Facilitate the exchange of information between the site team and the design team
14. Allocating resources such as budget, time, and personnel effectively to achieve project goals
15. Leading the design team through all phases of design projects, from initial concept to final execution
16. Manage design modifications, ensuring that changes are accurately documented and communicated
17. Develop and execute design strategies ensuring they align with project objectives and business goals
18. Generate creative design solutions in response to client briefs, integrating feedback from the design team
19. Uphold high standards of design quality and consistency, ensuring that designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements
20. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and make adjustments to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget
21. Review and approve design plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure they adhere to required standards and guidelines
22. Acting as a liaison between the design team and other departments or external partners, ensuring clear and effective communication
23. Manage and support the project design team, delegating tasks based on team members' specific skills and competencies
24. Continuously review to identify the most cost-effective methods for achieving the required functionality, and recommend alternative construction details and systems to reduce costs
25. Utilising strong communication skills to build positive relationships with clients, consultants and external agencies throughout the project process and ensuring a full understanding of their objectives and KPIs
