Joining Bury Council as a Premises Assistant within Bury Council Facilities Management Team is a great opportunity to be a member of a team providing services to those working within the Administration Buildings in the centre of Bury and keeping the buildings in great condition for visitors and employees.
The team opens the buildings at 7am; therefore, a 6am start is required in week one of our rotas, finishing at 2pm. In week two, the shift starts at 2pm and finishes at 10pm for the Town Hall, or starts at 12pm and finishes at 8pm for the Town Centre building.
The post includes locking and unlocking of Admin buildings, setting and testing alarm systems, cleaning, delivering post and parcels, and providing good customer care to our visitors and employees.
We would prefer someone with previous experience of the above tasks but would not exclude someone with the right attitude to learn.
There is also the need to accept and distribute deliveries to departments within the council buildings, which can include some lifting (although not heavy), and training will be provided.
Day-to-day maintenance is also part of the post; a trade would be advantageous, as would experience using power tools. However, there is no exclusion for the right candidate who feels they have the necessary skills to apply without the specific skills mentioned above.
The successful applicant will report to the Admin Buildings Manager. If you require further information about this post, please contact Karim Mira at 07581021872.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis and overtime as necessary. There is also a requirement to cover for annual leave and sickness.
In line with safer recruitment, please ensure that your application/CV covers your full employment history, and there is a reason noted for any gaps in employment. Successful candidates will be asked to provide relevant references for the past ten years; character references will not be accepted.
