We are looking for dynamic individuals with a commitment to a career in cardiology. This is a full-time appointment for 12 months as a Clinical Fellow (ST3+ Grade), based at Castle Hill Hospital in Hull, the tertiary referral centre for cardiology in East Yorkshire.
The post forms part of the complement of 12 middle grades within the department and is intended to closely mirror the service and training opportunities that cardiology specialist registrars undergo. There is the intention to include appropriately experienced appointees on the middle grade on-call rota at the tertiary centre. Previous experience of cardiology is essential, and MRCP is desirable. The ability to perform echocardiography would also be an advantage.
Main Duties of the Job
The appointees would join the other middle grade cardiology doctors to provide input to outpatient clinics and ward patients at Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary. The successful applicant is expected to take part in the on-call rota (approx 1 in 12).
The posts are based at Castle Hill Hospital, which provides Secondary and Tertiary Cardiac Services in a purpose-built environment.

Professional Registration
* Full Registration with the GMC
Qualifications and Training
* Valid ALS certificate
* Postgraduate qualification in Education or significant experience in postgraduate training
Clinical Experience
* Ability to offer sound clinical opinion on a range of acute medical conditions
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
Management and Administration Experience
* Ability to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit
* Ability to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload
* Ability to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery
Teaching, Audit and Research
* Experience of supervising junior medical staff
* Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs, and medical students
* Evidence of participation in audit
* Ability to extrapolate clinical research evidence to care for individual patients
* Evidence of having conducted a practice-changing audit
* Experience of teaching/training in clinical courses e.g., IMPACT Course, Faculty, ALS Instructor, ALERT Instructor
* Original peer-reviewed research publications
Personal Attributes
* Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service
* Excellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, Nurses, and other health professionals and flex style as appropriate
* Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, and national levels
* Ability to communicate effectively with external agencies and other disciplines
