Lawyer (Planning & Highways)
£19.81 per hour
Responsible for all legal aspects of the service areas of Highways, Planning, Environment and Transport.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support and assist the Senior Lawyer and be responsible for conducting matters in the following areas:
* Planning matters
* Highways matters
* Environment matters
* Transport matters
* Litigation arising out of any of the above
* Such other matters and work types as may from time to time be required
1. Undertake high quality advocacy, representing before courts and tribunals.
2. Draft legal documentation appropriate with the nature and grading of the post.
3. Undertake all work assigned in a competent and professional manner.
4. Carry out investigations under the Members Code of Conduct.
5. Attend and present reports to formal and informal meetings including: Cabinet, Committees, Sub-Committees, Member and Officer working groups and outside bodies as appropriate.
6. Provide cover and support for other team members, as required by the Senior Lawyer.
7. Undertake legal research as and when required.
8. Engage in personal training as necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post, and assist in the training and development of other staff.
9. Provide basic front-line supervision of, and internal advice and guidance to junior staff within the team.
10. Undertake any duties which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and competence of the post as directed by the Head of Service.
