The Post Holder will form part of the existing team responsible for the Building Maintenance of the Trust. The post holder should ideally have served an apprenticeship, though non-time served post holders may be considered providing that they fit the general criteria for the post. Whilst bricklaying is a necessary skill, wide experience in associated work within the building trade is essential. As the post holder will be meeting patients and members of the public, a smart appearance and courteous disposition is needed.

Carry out general internal and external Building works to new and old areas.
Undertake a range of work associated with other trades, within personal capabilities.
Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to his/her trade without direct supervision.
Use all relevant tools and equipment.
Learn new techniques, skills and procedures with training as necessary and pass these on to others.
Understand fully the relationship of other craftsperson work to their own.
Instruct others on aspects of his/her work relating to his/her trade.

This job can involve periods of physical activity, possibly in adverse in inclement weather conditions, and therefore the post holder must be capable of undertaking such duties.
Brickwork - repairs and alterations to brick, block and refractory.
Hard Landscaping – concreting, slabbing, fencing, groundwork preparation for tarmacking and curb stones.
Plastering - patching of damaged walls and ceilings, re-boarding and skimming of damaged areas if false ceilings and erection and skimming of stud partition walls. Plastering of block and brickwork, openings and dividing walls.
Tiling - fixing of floor and wall tiles, including repairs to showers, toilets and bathrooms.
Drainage - repairing water drainage and soak ways. Re-setting of manholes and inspection covers including the necessary replacement of any supporting steelwork.
Alterations - removing as necessary shelves and fixtures. Removing walls to form openings and doorways. Patching and making good floors, removal and repositioning of curbs and small areas of concrete. Creating falls to gullies.
Roofing - repairs to roofs.
