This role is an extremely varied role inclusive of all non-clinical primary care duties required for GP Practice patients, from registration to deduction from the patient list, and everything in-between. The post-holder will be responsible for all aspects of administration for their own patient list, while still taking part in the main duties of answering the telephone and dealing with patient queries face to face.
No day will be the same as any other and the post-holder will gain skills to manage all aspects of primary care reception/administrative duties.
Main duties of the job
This non-exclusive list of duties and responsibilities which follows represents the broad range of tasks, from reception to administration, which may be required to be undertaken either routinely or periodically.
1. To deal with face to face queries from patients and their representatives or other visitors to the practice at the reception desk.
2. To answer telephone calls and book appointments for patients requiring medical input.
3. To print/request electronic prescriptions from the GP for patients requiring repeat medication.
4. To scan/code incoming correspondence arriving by email/practice website to the relevant clinician.
5. To process referrals for patients who need to be seen in secondary care.

Kingsway Medical Practice consists of a small team with 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, a Practice Nurse, a Healthcare Assistant, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Physician Associate, a Practice Manager and 6 Reception/Administration staff. We all work together as we are all integral to the smooth running of our service to 6300 patients from the local area. The demographic of our patient list is very diverse as is the area we are based in.

11. Ensure the preservation of Kingsway Medical Practice's property and resources.
12. Report any adverse incidents as appropriate.
13. To work from other locations as requested and appropriate.
14. Undertake any other reasonable duties.
Information Governance
To comply with Practice policies and procedures relating to Information Governance. This will include, but not be limited to, Confidentiality policies, record management protocols, the Information Security Policy, The Data Protection Act, The Freedom of Information Act etc.
The post holder shall not, during or after your employment, disclose confidential information belonging to the company. You have a responsibility to protect and maintain confidentiality of all information. You must not, except as authorised or required by law or your duties, reveal any confidential information.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of general office procedures e.g. manual and computerised record and filing systems, photocopying, email.
* Customer Service skills e.g. responding to queries and problem solving, Good communications and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard in Maths and English.
* Computer Literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
