Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 3-18. We are looking to appoint a part-time, fixed term teacher of art to join our school, a school of great character.
For September 2025, we seek an enthusiastic, well-qualified art graduate to join this strong department. This post is covering maternity leave and is for approximately one year, subject to the permanent postholder’s return. This position would be equally suited to either a newly qualified or a more experienced applicant. The applicant should be keen to contribute to the broader life of the school through cultural, sporting or other extra-curricular activities.
The art department consists of three teaching staff and an art technician, all working in custom-designed art studios with gallery space.
Our public examination results are strong, with 31% of pupils achieving grades 8 and 9 at GCSE, and A Level results of A*, A, and B. We also offer smaller class sizes to allow for more personalised pupil development.
We organise a range of visits to shows in London, Bristol, St. Ives, and Falmouth Arts University. Our curriculum includes digital media, printing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. An interest in digital media and iPad apps such as Sketchbook and Procreate are particularly welcome. We are also happy to share our Exeter School Art Curriculum Map for more information about our schemes of work. Please get in touch for further details.
The closing date for applications is Friday 7 March 2025 at noon. We anticipate that interviews will be held on Monday 17 March 2025.
The role will attract a competitive salary as well as generous benefits including employer pension contribution, free school lunch during term time, free on-site parking, discretionary staff discount on school fees and use of indoor swimming pool and fitness suite.
