Job Overview A Brand new 13 bedded Elective T & O ward is opening in Feb 2025 An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Orthopaedic Directorate at Frimley Health Foundation Trust based at Frimley Park Hospital. We are looking to recruit Health Care Assistant to join our new Elective Orthopaedic Unit at Frimley. The Elective Orthopaedic Unit is a brand new 13 bedded ward in Frimley Park Hospital which will run a service 7 days a week. All 13 bed spaces are isolated side rooms. It is a fast paced department catering for patients having a range of orthopaedic surgical procedures. The successful individual should be dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated who is committed to delivering a high standard of nursing care. The post holder must be an excellent team player, compassionate, and have exemplary communication and interpersonal skills. You will be supported with speciality specific training. It is essential for the candidate to have health care experience. Internal rotation within Ortho Trauma ward is expected to gain the skills and knowledge. Main duties of the job The post holder will carry out duties in support and under supervision of a registered nurse and participate in patient care as a member of the ward nursing team. To assist patients to maintain basic needs and ensure patient safety is maintained. To assist with a range of clinical and non-clinical duties as per service demand adhering GIRFT principles. The post holder is expected to work within the trust with weekend, evening and night duties as required by the service. Frimley Health Trust benefits on Vimeo Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities To undertake agreed clinical activities including collection of urine and faecal samples, swabs, recording of fluid intake/output, changing of stomas and urine drainage bags, catheter care, recording of pulse/temperature/blood pressure/saturations and NEWS scoring, and report to the team nurse of any changes in a patient’s condition. To assist patients to eat and drink as required, assisting in menu selection and being aware of special diets and cultural requirements. To enable and assist patients to maintain their personal hygiene. To contribute to the safe movement of patients, using equipment to mobilise and move patients, after mobility assessment, to ensure patient comfort. To answer the ward telephone as required in professional manner. To assist with admission, pre op check, post op check and discharge procedures as per role limitations. To maintain patient records. (EPIC) To tidy rooms and bed areas, and to clean and strip beds and remake after patient discharge, dealing with disposal of soiled linen as per IPC policy To ensure ward equipment is suitably maintained and cleaned frequently.
