Assistant Financial Accountant
6 months Fixed Term Contract
Based: Greenbridge (hybrid working 3 days in office and 2 from home)

We now have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at our Support Centre in Swindon for a 6-month Fixed Term Contract.
The main purpose of an Assistant Financial Accountant is to play a key role in ensuring the integrity of WHSmith's International business' accounts.
What you will be doing
1. Assisting with the management of all capital expenditure accounting across our international stores, including liaising with Commercial, Construction, and IT teams to maintain and enhance processes for capturing and tracking capital projects against board-approved budgets.
2. Supporting the International Finance team to ensure the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss for each of our International locations are fully controlled and reconciled on a monthly basis, specifically in relation to fixed assets.
3. Supporting the production of budgeting and forecasting of capital expenditure and depreciation charges for the Cash Flow and Balance Sheets for our International subsidiaries.
4. Assisting the Financial Accountant in supporting the year-end audit and with the production of year-end statutory accounts and supporting schedules.
5. Assisting with the refinement and documentation of finance processes.
What we are looking for
1. Experience in a finance environment; either willing to study towards or already part-qualified accountant. Experience within the retail industry would be advantageous; however, an interest in International Retail is vital.
2. Excellent analytical skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, X-Lookups, and Sum Ifs.
3. A keen eye for detail and accuracy to ensure all financial data is recorded and summarized logically and informatively for a variety of audiences.
4. Excellent communication skills to engage, communicate, and influence both financial and non-financial managers.
5. Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a broad range of activities.
6. Ability to understand and articulate sometimes complex matters.
