Teaching Personnel have been approached by the headteacher of a specialist provision in the Burnley area of East Lancashire (BB10). This provision caters for children with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) ages 11-19. The headteacher is looking to recruit a dedicated, dynamic educator who is willing to hit the ground running and is keen to make a positive difference to children’s education.
* April 2025 start
* Full-time
* £120 - £150 (Dependant on experience)
The Headteacher of this specialist provision highlights the importance of creating and maintaining positive relationships with the children, creating a welcoming, trustworthy ethos. They ensure that the children’s Social, Emotional and Mental Health is at the heart of all decisions and activities that are being led.
SEN teachers are required to adopt a caring, understanding manner towards their teaching – making a conscious effort to understand the needs and personality attributes of all their children, allowing a more personalised curriculum to be implemented. It is necessary to create and apply specific teaching techniques and produce activities that are specific to each student’s needs and abilities.
The role
* Follow EHCPs to apply a personalised curriculum
* Create and review SMART targets for students
* Familiarise with the thematic, vocational curriculum the school implements
* Liaise with staff members/other agencies/parents and carers
* Prepare children for life outside of school
* Adopt a patient approach and understanding of individual needs
