Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry
The post would suit someone with previous experience of working in teams and someone wanting to develop specialist experience in General Adult Psychiatry.
The post is based across two sites: a Female Acute inpatient ward (Roman Ward) based at the Tower Hamlets Centre for Mental Health at Mile End Hospital and the Isle of Dogs Neighbourhood Mental Health Team (NMHT). The service base is mainly on the wards and this is very central to the borough with good bus and Tube connections.
Main duties of the job
On average 8 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care. The Specialty Doctor will work under the supervision of the consultant. He/she will:
1. Work within a multidisciplinary setting offering psychiatric-medical input in the assessment, treatment and care management of the patients.
2. Adhere to the clinical lead model of service and principle of holistic care.
3. Adhere to all service conditions and local policies.
4. Conduct comprehensive medical assessments that include history taking, mental and physical evaluation, and biopsychosocial formulations. Other duties might involve diagnostic and treatment reviews and mental and physical treatment administration. Attendance to MHRT as appropriate and supervised by the RC may be required from time to time and a good knowledge of the MHA (2007) is required.
5. Contribute medical opinion by participating in the regular MDT meetings and offer advice and support to other team members in issues related to his/her competence and expertise.

Person Specification
Education
* Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent (A) License to practice with the GMC (In good standing and if relevant up to date with regards to revalidation)
* MRCPsych (A) Eligible for Section 12 Approval
* Previous experience 1-2 yrs training at CT1-3 grade or higher in psychiatry (A) Or Min 2 yrs clinical experience as a Specialty Doctor or equivalent in Psychiatry (A)
* Previous experience of working in the community mental health setting (A, I)
* Interest in the principles of recovery oriented practice. (A, I)
* Previous experience of working in an inpatient mental health unit.
