Your Role:
As a Principal Bridge Engineer / Chief Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within the Transportation business, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of transportation. Also supporting non-transportation civil engineering and structures projects both locally and internationally. You'll take pride in crafting high-quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.
What You'll Do:
1. Develop innovative civil and structural designs that enhance infrastructure and make a positive impact on society and the environment.
2. Work alongside national and international design teams, leveraging your expertise to create sustainable solutions.
3. Oversee the production and review of high-quality design documentation, including sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analysis models, calculations, reports, and specifications.
4. Understand client needs and integrate the capabilities of AtkinsRéalis to develop effective solutions.
5. Provide guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and capabilities within the team and the wider business.
6. Identify new opportunities for growth, bringing value to the business and leading bids and tenders to secure exciting new projects.
7. Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
What You Bring:
1. A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
2. Professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
3. Experience working with key clients such as National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities, major contractors, and developers.
4. Strong understanding of relevant design standards (e.g., Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW, and Network Rail standards).
5. Practical knowledge and experience in bridge design, maintenance, and assessment.
6. Proficiency with structural analysis software packages, including LUSAS, MIDAS, and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
7. Proven track record of innovation in the design, maintenance, and supervision of structures-related projects.
8. Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues across various engineering disciplines.
9. Solid project management skills, with commercial awareness and financial control to deliver projects across diverse contract types.

Security clearance:
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
