Job Summary
Locum Consultant in Medical Oncology covering Breast, Lung, and Melanoma.
You will be joining a team of 15 Consultants providing comprehensive Oncology services to the 750,000 strong population of Lincolnshire. ULHT has a comprehensive range of radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments at Lincoln County Hospital, with chemotherapy also provided at Pilgrim Hospital (Boston) and Grantham and District Hospital. In addition, we have a Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) that delivers chemotherapy to eligible patients in Louth, Grantham, and Skegness.
Out-Patient clinics are provided at Lincoln County Hospital and Pilgrim Hospital Boston. We also provide virtual outpatient clinics for patients, and there are options for consultants to be able to work remotely from home. There are also opportunities to undertake Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials.
Applicants should be fully registered with the UK General Medical Council and preferably be in the process of obtaining their Specialist Registration (for example via CESR or be within 6 months of completion of CCT) at the time of interview. However, options are available to support with the CESR process.
Main Duties of the Job
This post has been assessed as attracting 11 basic PA's per week plus additional programmed activities by separate negotiation, as well as a 1:13 on call. This is a Trustwide appointment based at Lincoln County Hospital with one day a week at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. The appointee will provide a comprehensive service for the management of oncology patients for breast, lung, and melanoma tumours, and attending the MDTs.
You will be supported by 7 Specialty Doctors, 1 Advanced Clinical Practitioner, 3 trainee Doctors along with 2 trainee ACP's and 3 Clinical Nurse Specialists.
Base: Lincoln with one day per week at Pilgrim Hospital Boston
The Department:
* The Oncology Department at Lincoln houses the Oncology Assessment Unit (OAU), radiotherapy, oncology outpatients clinics as well as the Ingham Suite for chemotherapy.
* There are 4 Consulting Rooms and 4 examination rooms.
* There are Specialist Nurse and radiographer led Clinics.
* All Day Case patients are cared for on Ingham Suite, Lincoln and the Chemotherapy Suite, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.

Person Specification:
Experience Essential:
* Extensive experience and training in general medical oncology.
* Experience of involvement in clinical research and audit Teaching Junior Staff.
Desirable:
* A specialist interest in a specialist area to complement the other consultants in the department.
* Publications in recognised (speciality) journals.
* Research projects relating to speciality.
Qualifications Essential:
* GMC registered.
* MRCP.
Desirable:
* Higher Degree.
Skills Essential:
* Organisational skills.

Desirable:
* Completed advanced communications skills course.
