Choral Scholars, Soprano, Alto and Tenor
London & South East
Organisation: Carshalton Choral Society
Carshalton Choral Society is looking for experienced and confident singers, with skills in sight singing and solo singing, to join the choir as choral scholars. We are a friendly, sociable choir who enjoy singing and making music together with around 80 members.
We rehearse every Monday evening in term time (no half-term break) from 8 - 10 pm, in Carshalton Methodist Church Hall, Ruskin Road, Carshalton, SM5 3DE. This is easily accessible by rail from Victoria station and via the Thameslink line. We are looking to appoint a soprano, alto and tenor choral scholar to start on 31st March for the period of one calendar year.
We welcome applications from singers of diverse ages, experience and backgrounds - we anticipate this role will be of particular benefit to singers currently studying as an undergraduate or postgraduate at university or college who wish to gain professional experience to develop their musical career.
As a choral scholar, you would support your assigned section and, in addition to singing with the section, support and encourage their own vocal development. We expect attendance at all concerts within the calendar year, and no less than 80% of rehearsals.
Where opportunities allow and where appropriate for the chosen candidates, we will also help provide further opportunities for career development including small concert solos and understudying larger concert solo roles.
Our concert dates for the duration of the scholarship are 28th June, 1st November, 13th December 2025 and 21st March 2026. The scholarships are for £1000 per annum paid monthly in arrears.
Applications can be made online here, or contact conductor@carshaltonchoral.org.uk.
Applications close on 28th February, and candidates will be invited to attend rehearsals to audition in March.
