Responsibilities:
Provide Services for Disabled Individuals:
Visit or advise on the need for occupational therapy services.
Assess individuals’ needs to support their full participation in the community.
Make Recommendations:
Suggest ways to further clients' independence, including necessary domestic adaptations and the provision of personal aids.
Maintain Relationships:
Foster good relationships with other staff and agencies to ensure high-standard and coordinated service delivery to disabled service users and their carers.
Support Service:
Provide a support service for service users across the Department in consultation with Service Managers and heads of establishments.
Professional Support and Advice:
Offer professional support and advice to colleague Occupational Therapists and other staff within area offices and other Department outlets.
Stay Informed:
Keep up to date with current developments in Occupational Therapy and other relevant issues.
Ensure area colleagues are informed about these developments.
Evaluate Service Effectiveness:
Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of services.
Ensure services are known and appropriate for all sections of the community.
Experience:
Occupational Therapy:
Experience in the field of occupational therapy.
Assessment of the needs of people with physical and sensory disabilities.
Additional work experience, either pre- or post-qualification.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in care planning for a wide range of disabilities.
Relevant knowledge of legislation in Community Care & Disability.
Awareness of the needs of people with physical and sensory disabilities.
Knowledge of the range of resources available.

Service User Groups:
Ability to work with all service user groups.

Information Technology:
Proficiency in information technology.
