At AtkinsRéalis, our team of Graduate/Assistant ecologists work throughout the United Kingdom to deliver a diverse range of challenging and exciting projects that benefit our clients, biodiversity and society.
To meet our growing project workload and help us design and apply new approaches to our work, we are looking for suitably qualified and enthusiastic Graduate/Assistant Ecologists to join our Midlands team. Location can be flexible, but we hope to attract candidates principally to our office in Derby.
Joining us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant and high-profile projects, with many of our projects winning awards for biodiversity enhancements, innovation, and knowledge sharing. Our ecology team also won the inaugural CIEEM Large-Scale Consultancy of the Year Award in 2018 and has been highly commended in the same award category each year thereafter.
What you will be doing:
1. Working on nationally important infrastructure projects. Working as a team to manage project programmes and budgets.
2. Undertaking field surveys for a range of protected species and habitats.
3. Planning and co-ordinating field surveys, analysing and interpreting survey results using approaches such as biodiversity net gain or natural capital.
4. Designing and co-ordinating ecological mitigation.
5. Authoring a range of ecological reports and licence applications.
6. Managing work enquiries and preparing bids under the guidance of more senior staff.
7. Collaborating with internal AtkinsRéalis multi-disciplinary teams and undertaking stakeholder engagement.
About you:
Ideally, you would have the following qualities/ qualifications / memberships:
1. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) (AtkinsRéalis to cover membership costs).
2. A degree or masters in ecology or closely related field.
3. Demonstrable specialist ecological knowledge.
4. A full, clean driving licence.
Security clearance:
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
