As a Formulation Technician, you will contribute to development of the next generation formulation and product technologies which are required for the company’s ambitious innovation programme and growth plans. In this role, you will undertake tasks such as testing and the preparing of formulations, utilising development scale equipment and test formulations using the appropriate methods.
Adding value to the innovation programme, as Formulation Technician you will demonstrate curiosity, a broad and deep technical skill set and embracing a collaborative mindset,possessing excellent influencing and team building skills.
Principle Accountabilities
1. Prepare samples of a range of formulation types slurries, liquids, granules, powders)
2. Prepare prototypes for assessment analytically, via sensory, employee panels or consumer studies.
3. Provide ongoing support across the categories as required and contribute ideas and opinions to project discussions and team meetings.
4. Raise COSHH and risk assessment for new materials and processes prior to undertaking any work and conduct larger pilot production studies in preparation for full scale manufacture.
5. Perform and record detailed physical/analytical assessments of formulation characteristics to determine the acceptability of formulations and prototypes.
6. Apply knowledge to develop and implement appropriate test methods to support formulation and prototype assessment.
Skills and Experience Required
7. Basic chemistry/engineering qualification, HNC or equivalent experience
8. Experience in liquids formulation, processing, filling, and characterisation
9. Experience soft solids formulation, processing extrusion, casting, etc.) and characterisation
10. Time management skills, report writing and team working skills.
11. Ability to breakdown activities into achievable tasks and provide effective solutions.
12. Candidates must have a drive for learning, continuous improvement and open to new ideas and techniques.
