A little bit about what we are looking for We re seeking a dedicated and driven Service Charge Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full Service Charge cycle with a focus on accuracy, transparency, and resident satisfaction. Your duties will include handling accruals, prepayments, and finance data management, ensuring all accounting practices are meticulously followed. Excel proficiency is essential for this role. You'll have the opportunity to blend the best of both worlds, spending approximately 2-3 days per week in the office with the remainder being from the comfort of your own home. Of course if you'd prefer to be in the office more, then that is completely fine with us too Your responsibilities Year-End Statements: Produce year-end statements for variable service charges. Service Charge Validation: Validate service charge actuals for each financial year. Annual Budget Production: Create annual budgets on a scheme-by-scheme basis using the Service Charge Management System. Analytical Review: Use analytical tools and historical data to ensure accuracy and full cost recovery. Invoice Management: Check invoice coding and address any mispostings. Variance Investigation: Investigate variances in estate/block income and liaise with stakeholders on significant discrepancies. Financial Reporting: Handle month-end accruals and prepayments. Customer Communication: Ensure all service charges are communicated clearly and transparently to residents. Cost Review and Adjustments: Work with other teams to review costs, calculate year-end adjustments, collaborate with auditors, update tenant accounts, and mail information to residents. Scheme Management: Manage a portfolio of schemes, regularly visit them, and assist residents with service charge queries. Support and Collaboration: Support Neighbourhood Coordinators with service charge queries and work collaboratively with Housing Teams, Charge Management Teams, Estate Teams, and Home Ownership Teams to deliver a customer-focused service. Compliance: Ensure compliance with service charge legislation and best practices. Ongoing Learning: Stay up-to-date with service charge developments and ensure charges are affordable, represent value for money, and accurately reflect scheme composition. New Schemes: Assist the Development Teams in setting appropriate service charges for new schemes. Our ideal candidate Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of rent and service charge legislation. Team Experience: Experience working within a high-performing team. Deadline Management: Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage cyclical workloads. Software Proficiency: Experience with a variety of financial and non-financial software systems.
