Our current Senior management team and leaders consist of three family directors, where one works as the business manager, our operations manager, lead setting managers, a development support manager, learning and development manager, room leaders and Little Flyers mentors.

We are looking for an energetic and creative deputy manager to take on the challenge to support our manager and team to realise the potential of their early years setting. Someone who takes an interest in leading the learning about what is around them and the natural world.
The deputy manager will be supported by the manager, senior management team and will support the daily operations of the setting, supporting planning, compliance, risk assessments and mentoring staff along with supporting our current and new families.
The candidate should have a positive outlook who can instil confidence in the children, parents and team appreciating everyone for who they are and follow the Little Flyers ethos in everything they do.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the daily operations of the ELC setting, including our team and children.
* Lead on curriculum planning for learning both indoors and outdoors.
* Plan with the team to manage resources and equipment.
* Support the ELC team in developing clear communication with parents and families.
* Support the manager on planning for improvement using HGIOELC/Care Inspectorate Quality Framework.
* Completing room audits and planning next steps for improvement.
* Supporting the manager with inductions, training, mentoring students, modelling best practice for staff and setting clear goals.
* Support the manager on compliance in line with local and national regulatory and legislative requirements: SSSC, Care Inspectorate, Local authority.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* Qualified to or working towards SCQF level 9 (BA Childhood Practice/PDA).
* Experience with Health and Safety procedures and Risk Management.
* Passion for leading outdoor learning.
* Can train/coach/support staff team.

Little Flyers Childcare has settings across Edinburgh and West Lothian, alongside our afterschool provision, caring for children aged 0 to 10 years. Our staff have decades of childcare experience and such genuine compassion and empathy to help support our children and families as they grow.
