Job Title: Intervention Learning Support Assistant (1:1/Small Group, SEMH Support)
Location: Secondary School (ages 11-16)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent, 12 working weeks

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Intervention Learning Support Assistant to work closely with secondary students aged 11 to 16 years who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, additional learning needs, and display challenging behaviour. This role involves delivering targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support students in their academic, emotional, and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Targeted Interventions: Plan and deliver tailored 1:1 and small group sessions that focus on emotional regulation, social skills, and academic progress.
* Supporting Students: Build positive, trusting relationships to support students in accessing learning, overcoming barriers, and achieving their potential.
* Behaviour Management: Implement effective strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviour and support students in developing self-regulation and resilience.
* Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and behaviour strategies.
* Promote Engagement: Foster an inclusive and supportive environment where students feel safe and motivated to engage in lessons and interventions.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to reports and reviews to support their development.
* Adaptability: Be flexible in supporting students across different subjects and working with students at various ability levels.
Candidate Qualities:
* Resilience and Patience: A calm, composed individual who can respond effectively to challenging situations while maintaining a supportive approach.
* Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families, encouraging trust and open communication.
* Experience with SEMH and Challenging Behaviour: Preferably, candidates will have prior experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEN, or behaviour needs in a school or care setting.
* Proactive and Creative: Able to use initiative and think creatively when designing interventions and problem-solving challenging situations.
* Team Player: Comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues, sharing insights, and contributing to whole-school initiatives.
* Commitment to Professional Development: Enthusiastic about developing skills and knowledge through training opportunities and reflective practice.
