Spencer-Richardson have been retained to source a new Finance Director for a leading national buildings products distributor. Following a change in ownership, they are now entering a period of transformation and growth. The successful candidate will have overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of strategy, analysing and making recommendations. You will mix the direction of the day to day finance function, with corporate finance, ensuring the business is in good health, its performing, and supporting the Managing Director with strategic decisions based on accurate, and sound advice. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will also have a dotted line to the wider Group Finance Director, and as the business grows, so will the Finance function and this role.
You will be hands on, strategic and commercially aware, supporting decisions that will help shape the future direction of growth.
The role is hybrid with ideally 3 days a week minimum on site.
Key Responsibilities :
* Providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure financial objectives are met
* Review, develop and implement all necessary policies, controls and procedures to ensure sound financial management
* Lead a small finance team
* Ensure all financial targets are met and financial and statutory regulations are complied with
* Provide financial advice and guidance to senior stakeholders when required
* Oversee the preparation of the company’s financial accounts, guaranteeing they are presented accurately and on time
* Review the current systems usage and advise on efficiency
Key skills required:
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
* Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounting and financial processes.
* Proactive and team orientated mindset, experience of working in a fast-paced scale-up highly beneficial.
* Strong communication skills with change management experience.
