We have an exciting opportunity at Thames Water to join our Home Counties Waste Network team as a Field Engineer.
Your role will be to set up / oversee emergency and planned flow management activity (e.g. tankering and over-pumping) on the sewer network, collaborating with colleagues in the logistics team and Network Engineers. You will also work closely with our civil and non-civil service providers to ensure that network repairs are carried out quickly and efficiently.
In addition, the successful candidate will oversee the plant hire process for their area, ensuring equipment is returned when no longer needed and that monthly charges incurred are accurate. During quieter periods, the field engineer will carry out infiltration investigations to support the targeting of planned investment in the region to reduce pollution and flooding incidents.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be expected to travel across a wide area between North and South Home Counties.
What you’ll be doing as the Field Engineer
Your time will be split between the office and the field, and you will be responsible for:
* Overseeing the installation of flow management arrangements, ensuring plans are executed in a safe and timely manner.
* Ongoing management of flow management schemes, including contractor supervision, health and safety, and management of hire equipment.
* Conducting field surveys to develop playbooks for new flow management activities.
* Working alongside suppliers and contractors to ensure all work is completed safely and to Thames Water standards.
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure flow management works are planned and communicated appropriately.
* Conducting contractor audits to ensure compliance with Thames Water Health, Safety and Wellbeing standards.
* Carrying out infiltration investigations to identify sewers requiring remedial work.
What you should bring to the role
* Water Industry experience, ideally in Waste Networks.
* Ability to use company IT systems and office software, particularly Excel.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* An uncompromising approach to Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
* Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
* Full UK driving licence.
