The North Yorkshire Liaison and Diversion service are recruiting mental health workers. Liaison and diversion provides a stimulating and rewarding work environment. We work with vulnerable people aged 10 or over who are currently in, or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. We have an inclusive person centred approach, working with partner agencies Spectrum and Humankind. The team includes registered staff, support workers, navigators and peer support apprentices.
You will require 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.
Main duties of the job
You will be based within the North Yorkshire Police catchment area. We have bases at Harrogate, York and Scarborough police stations, your base will be agreed at interview.
You will be responsible for coordinating the assessment of new and existing service users. You will need to have good assessment skills, be able to work independently and have good IT skills.
Your duties will include:
o Providing support and advice to colleagues in the criminal justice system
o Face to face assessments in the police station and the magistrates' court
o Providing follow-up after release
o Liaising with local mental health services
o Acting as shift coordinator
o Providing clinical supervision

Qualification
Essential
1. Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work.
2. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
3. Certificate in teaching & assessing in clinical practice as appropriate to own profession
4. 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.
5. Clinical Supervisor
6. Recognised sign-off mentor (or equivalent) or must be achieved within agreed timescale
7. Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

9. Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area

10. Significant experience working with people with complex mental ill health, behavioural and social issues.
11. Experience of working with children and young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties.
