Overview:
First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business who are looking to recruit a Contractors Engineering Manager on a permanent basis due to growth based in Belfast. The candidate can be located anywhere in the UK but will need to travel to Belfast occasionally. The main purpose of this position is to provide a formal link for the Translink project to allow Technical and Engineering issues to be discussed and disseminated.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide support to the Programme Engineering Manager and provide professional guidance on all technical issues related to the Projects that they are responsible for.
2. Liaise with the client’s representatives, Translink Project Team, Programme Engineering Manager, other CEMs and Rail’s Professional Heads as required over technical issues.
3. Carry out technical instruction and briefings for the Projects that they are responsible for.
4. Provide direction and assistance in the mentoring and instruction of all technical staff in the correct methods of carrying out their duties.
5. Independently monitor technical compliance on contracted works to ensuring that the documentation as required by the Client e.g., the Asset Management Plan (AMP) is correctly completed, accurate and delivered to the client within the required timescales.
6. Assist the Programme Engineering Manager and the Rail’s Professional Heads in delivering compliance with all relevant safety legislation.
7. Ensure all technical aspects of works comply with group and line standards and contractual specifications.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Professionally qualified in an appropriate discipline.
2. Successful record in project and engineering management.
3. Chartered Engineer (desirable)
4. Educated to Degree Level (desirable)
5. Fully conversant with railway structure and associated safety matters.
6. In depth knowledge of utilities, construction and contracting.
7. Is strongly focused on analysing, developing and implementing best practice in order to provide effective support to the business and strategic development of the business as a whole.
8. Understands the need to introduce best practice and a continuous improvement culture. Can outline a vision of what such an environment would be like.
9. Understands how the Company works and its objectives.
10. Has detailed knowledge of strategies, practices and systems within own area of expertise, and understands the cross-functional interaction within the business.
11. Able to take decisions on all matters that have an important long term effect and coordinate the operation and development of the team.
12. Able to organise workload of team balancing priorities and scheduling resources.
13. Exercises effective management control, delegating responsibility as appropriate.
