Heath Childcare are looking to appoint a full-time deputy childcare manager.
Heath Childcare is open 7:30am-6:00pm, Monday-Friday and only shuts for bank holidays and in between Christmas and new year. There are 8 members of staff and they were awarded Good at their last Ofsted inspection.
Staff are entitled to 20 days holiday a year.
The deputy will be on £7.65 per hour and will be contracted 37.5 hours a week (extra hours are given regularly and all staff are willing to do extra hours).
Job Description
Responsible for the management of Heath Childcare in collaboration with and in the absence of the Manager; providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children between 6 weeks and 11 years old.
Duties will include:
1. Working closely with the Nursery Manager
2. Adhering to the Policies and Procedures of Heath Childcare
3. Maintaining accurate and confidential staff, children's and parents' records
4. Welcoming parents, children and visitors
5. Showing a caring attitude towards distressed parents, children and staff
6. Communicating pleasantly and effectively in person, in writing and on the telephone
7. Identifying and following the correct procedures when dealing with a child protection issue
8. Monitoring and being vigilant regarding security
9. Supervising students, working in partnership with their colleges and tutors
10. Showing new and prospective parents around the nursery when needed, introducing them to staff members and answering any questions or queries they may have
11. Organising room leaders' meetings
12. Covering short staff within all rooms whenever needed
13. Working with other agencies i.e. early years, Early intervention team, Ofsted, college tutors, etc.
14. Becoming a room leader
15. Any other duties requested by the Director/Manager
Personal Specification:
1. Essential: Minimum Level 3 Childcare and Development Clear Enhanced CRB disclosure
2. Natural passion for working with children and developing them
3. Experience in working with 6 weeks to 11-year-old children
4. Sound knowledge of childcare development and EYFS
5. Ability to communicate with other team members and parents
6. Ability to organise, motivate and lead team
7. Ability to work as part of a team
8. Self-motivated
9. Willingness to undertake training as necessary
10. Ability to use initiative
11. Ability to handle situations calmly
12. Safeguarding
13. First Aid
14. Food Hygiene
