The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Principal Electrical Engineer with excellent design, technical, and sustainability skills who enjoys working collaboratively in multi-professional design teams, undertaking a client-facing role and taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results. You will join our creative and friendly Building Engineering team based in Cardiff. A team that seeks to set new standards in the built environment.

Is this role right for you?
In this role you will provide leadership and management to the MEP team on a portfolio of projects locally, nationally and internationally, ensuring correct technical approaches are applied to the project and staff are of suitable capabilities to undertake the task at hand. You will be expected to have project management skills and will have responsibility for the financial performance of the projects including liaising directly with clients on fees and commercial matters, effectively overseeing total project delivery by enabling effective team management and delegation to ensure the efficient and satisfactory delivery of multiple and complex projects, reporting to the Project Director.
Challenging orthodoxy will be instinctive to you. You will possess ambition on the Digital front and seek to lead its evolution in the built environment. You will be able to demonstrate solid experience in the field of Electrical Engineering Systems for building services across a range of project scales and building types, and a background of multi-disciplinary design by bringing the best of Arup together. In this role you will also produce engineering designs, calculations and specifications, using appropriate technical software and supervise and coordinate the work of others and coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines including in-house specialists. You will participate in and lead bids for new opportunities including developing fee proposals and attending interviews.
Requirements
We are looking for people who:
* Have achieved Chartered Engineer status via an appropriate professional institution such as IET or CIBSE.
* Have extensive experience in delivering a range of projects within building services environment.
* Proven people management skills and are familiar with managing staff at all levels.
* Have client facing and project leadership background.
