York Part Time / Full Time Long Term / Permanent / Temp to Perm The School and Role Vision for Education are looking for a number of SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a number of our client schools, supporting pupils with a mix of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Global Development Delay, PMLD, and challenging and disruptive behaviour. Working on a full time or part time basis, offering the flexibility to work around other commitments if needed. Vision for Education currently have a number of day to day, long term and permanent roles available for immediate and March starts. Responsibilities – can include: Provide Support: Assist students with SEN in their educational and personal development, implementing individualized support strategies to meet their specific needs. Inclusion and Differentiation: Promote an inclusive learning environment by differentiating instruction and adapting materials to ensure all students can access the curriculum. Classroom Assistance: Support the classroom teacher by facilitating student engagement, managing behaviour, and providing one-on-one or small group assistance during lessons. Personal Care: Provide personal care and support, if required, to students with physical or medical needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Collaborative Approach: Work closely with the classroom teacher, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to create and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and contribute to the overall development of students. Progress Monitoring: Observe and assess student progress, record achievements, and provide feedback to teachers and parents or guardians. Building Relationships: Establish positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem, confidence, and independence, while also maintaining effective communication with parents or guardians. Requirements Relevant Experience: Previous experience working with students with SEN is preferred, whether in a school, childcare, or other educational settings. However, candidates from a care background do excel in these roles. Knowledge and Understanding: Familiarity with different SEN conditions and a good understanding of strategies to support students with additional needs. Patience and Empathy: Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach when working with students, understanding their unique challenges and providing appropriate support. Flexibility: Adaptability to work effectively in different classrooms, supporting students across various age groups and educational settings. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals, building positive relationships and promoting collaboration. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to the inclusive and supportive ethos of the school. Moving and Handling Training (Non-Essential): Possess valid and up-to-date "Moving and Handling" training certification, ensuring the safe and appropriate assistance of students with physical disabilities or mobility challenges.
