Role Summary
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work with a leading innovator in the glass industry? Join the Magna Engineered Glass team as a Material Handler and play a crucial role in our daily operations. We're seeking dedicated individuals who prioritize safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety First: Promote and adhere to safe work practices, including using trailer jacks, wheel chocks, and personal protective equipment according to company requirements. Follow daily hi-lo safety checklists to ensure a secure work environment.
2. Equipment Operation: Operate lift trucks and other material-moving equipment, reporting any equipment abnormalities. Recharge batteries as needed and ensure equipment remains serviceable. Report any equipment malfunctions to your supervisor.
3. Material Flow: Follow production schedules to maintain the flow of materials and supplies. Pick and deliver component parts for each operation using material requisition forms.
4. Quality Assurance: Inspect finished parts to ensure proper labeling and stacking methods. Add additional identification as necessary.
5. Inventory Management: Organize and maintain repaired, salvaged, or returned parts according to established procedures. Maintain ongoing housekeeping in all plant areas, including receiving/warehouse, in-plant storage, and machine work areas.
6. Material Transport: Safely transport raw materials and supplies from the receiving area to the warehouse or work-in-process areas (point of use storage areas).
7. Team Support: Assist support personnel with hi-lo and material/equipment movement as needed.
8. Safety Compliance: Pass MIOSHA tests and follow all DMI Magna Donnelly and Federal safety rules and procedures for glass and material handling.
9. Loading and Unloading: Load and unload materials from trailers with multiple destinations in the proper order, ensuring even distribution of loads.
10. Shipping Verification: Check packing slips to verify shipments and deliveries, ensuring condition and quantity accuracy. Initiate special expediting when needed.
11. Inventory Control: Store and receive finished goods, rotating materials and supplies to prevent losses due to obsolescence or deterioration, following FIFO (first in, first out) principles.
12. Space Utilization: Optimize the storage of raw materials and supplies to make the best use of available space.
13. Material Assembly: Assemble raw materials, finished goods, and supplies for movement to other plants, ensuring correct part numbers and quantities. Properly stack, band, wrap, and load pallets to prevent loss or damage in transit.
14. Inventory Accuracy: Maintain control of inventory processing to achieve 98+% accuracy. Perform daily cycle counting and identify causes of inaccuracies. Operate electronic inventory systems as required.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
* Proven work record demonstrating competence in planning, following procedures, working independently, and showing initiative.
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
* Ability to lift and move cartons and materials weighing 50-100 lbs, and move 55-gallon drums (up to 700 lbs) with a truck.
* Proficiency in operating CRTs, PCs, Radio Frequency terminals, and computerized material record-keeping systems.
* Flexibility in working hours to meet production schedules.
* Team-oriented mindset, emphasizing collaboration over individual performance.

Salary: From $20.00 per hour

Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience: Material Handling: 1 year (Preferred)
