Job Description
6 month - Fixed Term Contract
The Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing maintenance activities across the site, including identifying parts for breakdown, corrective, or preventative work on various assets, fabrications, and facilities. The role aims to ensure maximum uptime and smooth operation of the plant, supporting both electrical and mechanical systems, and improving engineering standards. It involves small-scale engineering projects and adherence to site and corporate standards. The role is primarily days-based but may require flexibility for shift support due to sickness.
Core Responsibilities
* Provide hands-on electrical and mechanical support.
* Carry out routine PPMs via SAP work orders.
* Identify potential machine failures through plant walkarounds and escalate issues.
* Perform reactive maintenance promptly and professionally.
* Support production to maximize engineering engagement.
* Ensure high-quality workmanship with a zero-defect standard.
* Identify critical spares and consumables to reduce MTTR and increase MTBF.
* Work towards a world-class maintenance organization by improving OEE, addressing quality issues, and enhancing maintenance standards.
* Follow EHSQ policies and legal requirements.
* Assist with stock control through maintenance store stock takes.
SAP Management
* Input work order data, including tasks, resources, and materials.
* Utilize SAP to locate parts and improve maintenance planning.
Permits and Safety
* Authorize permits and conduct risk assessments.
* Maintain safety culture by questioning unsafe conditions.
Projects and Continuous Improvement
* Support small projects and CI initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
* Time-served Engineering apprenticeship or relevant experience (NVQ 3, ONC, HNC).
* Minimum 5 years in an engineering role.
* Experience with CMMS systems, preferably SAP.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Proficiency with computers, manuals, schematics (Electrical/Mechanical).
* Basic understanding of PLCs and instrumentation.
* Fabrication and welding skills.
* Experience with small projects.
* Knowledge of safe working procedures (ATEX, DSEAR).
* Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environments.
* Autonomous, proactive, and resilient with a challenge-ready attitude.
* Ability to work under deadlines and prioritize tasks.
