Who is Southwell Racecourse and Golf Course?
Set the in the town of Southwell near Newark and one of only six all-weather racecourse tracks in the UK, Southwell has its own unique charm and character, making it one of the premier sporting venues in the East Midlands. After previously owning the UKs only fibresand surface All-Weather track, Southwell switched over to a Tapeta surface as of 2021. With racing on both All-Weather and Turf tracks taking place throughout the year, we are one of the country's busiest racecourses.
Not only are we Horseracing at Southwell we are also home to Southwell Golf Club. The course has two contrasting nine holes. The Front 9 sits within Southwell Racecourse and is characterised by a large number of water hazards. The 7th hole, a 138 yards par 3 with an island green is Southwells signature hole.
About the role:
The Operations Manager will oversee the smooth and efficient execution of race days and non-racing events, ensuring they are run safely and effectively. They will maintain the site and buildings to a consistently high standard, ensuring proper presentation at all times. Additionally, the Operations Manager will take on Safety Officer duties for most events. Working closely with the Executive Director, they will play a key role in site development initiatives and will lead all aspects of Health and Safety management.
Responsibilities for the successful Operations Manager include (but not limited to):

* Oversee the companyssafety management system(LogIT & Expansive FM) and implement emergency procedures.
* Take the lead asSafety Officeron race days and major events.
* Manage race day staff, safety stewards, and third-party security teams.
* Work closely withsuppliers, contractors, and statutory bodiesto maintain compliance and efficiency.
* Ensure the venue and its facilities arewell-maintained, secure, and event-readyat all times.
* Develop and manage pedestrian and vehicle access plans for event days.
* Overseetraining programsfor workplace compliance and operational excellence.
* Monitor utilities, control expenditures, and drivecost-saving initiatives.
* Identify and lead capital projects to enhance efficiency, profitability, and customer experience.
The person we are looking for as a Operations Manager has.
* Proven experiencein operations management, ideally within aracecourse, venue, or large-scale eventsenvironment.
* Minimum 1 yearin a similar role, with a background inracecourses, sport, leisure, or hospitalitybeing an advantage.
* Project Management qualificationis beneficial.
* IOSH Managing Safelycertification.
* NVQ Level 3 in Spectator Safety and Control, withLevel 4being a plus.
* Strong IT skillsand proficiency in relevant software.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively.
