Applications are invited for the above post of Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with general medical accreditation based at Richard’s Hospital, part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will join a highly regarded Department with a regional reputation for excellence.
The successful applicant will join our friendly, dynamic team of respiratory consultants providing both general and specialist respiratory services. They will also contribute to the General Medical on call rota.
The appointed candidate will join a growing Respiratory Department and work alongside our team of dedicated administrative staff, respiratory physiologists, chronic respiratory physiotherapists, respiratory and TB nurses, lung care nurses and our oxygen team. The post holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our future Respiratory service at UHS West which will include dedicated respiratory high care, and a comprehensive respiratory integrated care service.
Applications for LTFT working are also welcomed and can be discussed with prospective candidates.
The Clinical Duties Of The Post Include The Following:
* Support the ward inpatient teams and provide day-to-day care of patients across the respiratory ward and necessary outlier areas in times of escalation.
* Undertake outpatient activity across the respiratory specialty including cancer and relevant sub-specialties.
* Be included on the on-call rota for GIM, currently on a 1 in 8 weekend basis, with less frequency for weekdays.
* Be an active member of the Respiratory Team contributing to regular departmental meetings, service development, audit, and governance.
* Provide appropriate cover for patients admitted under the care of another paired consultant during the absence on leave of colleagues within the job plan.
* Provide education to the wider MDT as part of the Respiratory educational program.
* There is responsibility for general professional training of the junior members of the department and contributing to the training of nurses and other staff and participating in the activities of the Medical Education Centre.
* Keeping up to date with knowledge and skills via CPD.
* Engagement with yearly appraisal and revalidation.
